Sanibel Island- Day 7

Today was still cold, but we got to get out a little while. We went looking at some shops and went out on the beach for a short time. Evan played inside most of the time. This afternoon we went to take pictures for our Christmas cards. Evan cooperated well.

We are leaving bright and early in the morning. We have enjoyed our trip but we are ready to be back at home in our own beds. Tomorrow will be a long drive.

Here is our christmas card preview...

Sanibel Island- Day 6

Today was a really cold day here at the beach so we stayed inside most of the day. We got out with MiMi to go shopping this afternoon before we ate dinner for her birthday. We ate at Traders for dinner and Evan got to eat off the menu. He had grilled cheese and fruit. He only ate a little because his tummy was hurting. He did great in the restaurant though.

Nothing really happened today. No pictures...sorry.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today is Evan's first Thanksgiving!!! He got to enjoy it at the beach in which he has seemed to taken a liking too. We just hung out around the condo today because Evan didn't have a good night last night. The poor thing can't get rid or his cough. We did eat Thanksgiving dinner tonight and Evan loved everything he tried. He had dressing, turkey, peas, scallop potatoes, bread, and green beans. The food was delicious!!!
Here are the picture's of Evan in his turkey shirt...We couldn't get him to look at the camera because he was too busy looking at the sand.

Sanibel Island- Day 4

Today it rained all day so we went shopping at the outlets for a short time. We had a good time. This afternoon we didn't do anything because of the rain. Uncle Matt came this afternoon and tonight we ate at the Lazy Flamingo for dinner. Evan tried a little crab meat tonight but I couldnt tell if he liked it.

Today wasn't too exciting because of the rain.

Sanibel Island- Day 3

Today was a pretty good day for little man. He woke up with no fever. Thank you to the good Lord. I worried about him last night. He is teething and has a runny nose still. But I think the fever was from teething. He is just having a really hard time with it this time. Anyways, this morning Evan and I walked out to the beach after he woke up...he just loves looking at the water and the birds. Evan ate breakfast and took a long morning nap. Following his nap we rode bike's for a short time. He did not seem to enjoy this bike ride too much. I thought he would love it, but boy was I wrong. But thats alright...maybe next time.

We ate lunch in today and Evan napped soon after while I went to run errands with Larry. I bought Evan a new book that was written by a local author called "Swamp Song" it is so cute and he loved it when I read it to him tonight.

So after his nap we took him out to play on the beach. He had a great time. We put out some towels and put three umbrella up and he discovered he loved playing in the sand. He crawled around the beach chasing his balls and water bottles. He also wanted to go after a bird (see picture below). Jason buried Evan's legs in the sand which was so funny because he didn't even seem to care. Needless to say, Evan has sand everywhere and has to take a bath before dinner. Evan also wanted to sit down in the tide of the ocean but he didn't have his swim suit on. He like the water coming up over his feet...it did take time for him to get use to it.

Tonight we ate at Jerry's Market and Evan tried beets tonight. He didn't seem to like or dislike them. He did great tonight at dinner.

Overall, the day was great!!! See picture's below...

Evan wanted to ride daddy's bike.

Waiting for the ride to start.

Sanibel Island- Day 2

Today was a rough day for Evan. He wasn't feeling too well. He woke earlier and was extra tired this morning. However, he got caught up somewhat. We just hung out around the condo this morning and walked to to beach for a little while. We did go eat lunch at Over Easy Cafe and is was very good. Evan sleep again after lunch for about 2 hours. Following his nap we went for a short swim. Evan likes the water but didn't last for long since he wasn't feeling well. After returning to the condo we discovered that Evan had a low grade fever. However, it broke after giving him some motrin before he went to bed. I was very worried about him.

Sorry no pictures were taken today because Evan wasn't feeling well.

Sanibel Island- Day 1

Well, yesterday Jason, Evan and I set out to travel to Southwest Florida to a place called Sanibel Island. My family has been coming here for years...put not too many years ago we started coming here for thanksgiving. It is truly a wonderful place to spend a week for thanksgiving. Anyhow, we were only supposed to travel half way yesterday but we were making such good timing we decided to come on down. Evan did WONDERFUL!!! I was sooo surprised. He even sleep all night last night (he also sleep lots in the car yesterday).

So today Evan woke about 6 am (normal time) and nursed. We got ready for our day and I took Evan out to look at the water while Jason finished getting ready. When we returned Meme (my mom) called to see what we were doing. We decided to ride bike's to the fresh food market with her. Evan got to ride in a baby chariot (it's an enclosed bike carrier for baby's) behind Jason. He enjoyed the ride there and even fell asleep. He enjoyed watching all the dogs at the market and even got to taste some of mommy's pumpkin muffin which he and I thought was rather tasty. However, he did not enjoy the bike ride back. He decided he wanted to skip his morning nap so we took him out to the beach. He enjoyed watching the birds and the ocean. He is still not too sure about the sand.

Tonight we ate at Gramma Dot's which was sooo good. The fried shrimp was great. Evan didn't get to taste anything tonight. He didn't really care to be at the restaurant...I think his tummy was hurting from teething. AHHH...if those teeth would just come in!!!

Well I did take some picture's but the bike one did not turn out good because Jason wanted to stick his leg in the picture. I will take one at another time. I didn't get any really good picture's today...however, I may post some tomorrow.

So Evan's first day of his first vacation was eventful. Tomorrow we hope to go swimming in the pool. The temperature's here are in the high to mid 80's...LOVE IT!!!

We are so excited...Evan must be too because this is were I found him this morning (these pictures were not staged, he climbed in himself)....

The Lord's Day

The National Peanut Festival

We took Evan to the Peanut Festival last Sunday and Monday. It was very hard to capture his reaction. It was just taking it all in and not really knowing what was going on. However, he did seem to enjoy the animals. He got to see the cows, goats, elephants, camels, horses, etc. I know when we go back next year he will LOVE it! He just looked at the animals and laughed or smiled. I think Jason and I enjoyed looking and watching him more than he enjoyed everything. So here are the few pictures I did take:

Pumpkin Patch

I know I am a little behind on posting...we have been busy these past few weeks. However, I wanted to share our visit to the pumpkin patch. Evan got to go to the pumpkin patch at First United Methodist in Dothan about two weeks ago. He wasn't sure what to think of it first, but then he got to look at the small pumpkins and loved them. He was picking them up and looking at them. We actually brought a little pumpkin home and he loves "playing" with it. I know next year he will enjoy it more.

These days will be missed

Well, I feel like Evan's first year of life is coming to a close...I know I still have a few more months. But time seems to go by soooo fast with a little one. This morning, Evan and I went for our normal morning walk about the neighborhood. As I walked I was thinking about how cold it was and that our morning walks will soon becoming to an end becasue it gets too cold to be out walking. It made me really sad to think about that. It has been something I have really enjoyed each morning...I know Evan likes it too. It always seems to calm him if he is upset or just helps him start his day. It has become apart of his daily routine and something he expects every day. I don't know what I will replace walking with...any suggestion? Walking in the mornings will be something I will remember and cherish from Evan's first year of life. I have enjoyed spending that time with him over the past few months...he has noticed many different things about the outdoors since we began our morning walks. He is just an amazing little guy!

So, in order to remember our times together...I took some pictures....

The Best Place in The World

Last friday, Jason took off work so we decided to take a trip to Destin. I was very excited seeing that was only my second time to go to the beach this summer. Yes, it was only for the day...but it helped my beach withdrawals. We went to the outlet mall and shopped, ate lunch, and went to my favorite place SEASIDE! Love it there! So Evan go to experience sand and ocean for the first time. He wasn't too sure about any of it. However, he hated when the waves came crashing down on his feet. I hope he grows to love it lately because mommy and daddy sure do love the beach.

9 Month Check-Up

So last Thursday we took Evan to the doctor due to some problems we were having with his eye swelling around the outside. I attend a bible study on Wednesday morning and the past two weeks he has rubbed his eye so much it started swelling. Well it really bothered me so I made an appointment with the doctor. Everything turned out fine...we still don't know why he is rubbing his eye because it had gone away by the time we went to the doctor. However, we will see how today goes. I think he may be allergic to something in the room where he stay while I am in bible study.

On another note...Evan had his 9 month check-up while we were there. Here are his stats:
Weight: 22 lbs 5.5oz (75th percentile)
Height: 29 1/4 in. (75th percentile)

Jason and I both think Evan weighs more than that...who knows???? BUT, it looks like my son will be taller than me...he is already half my height. CRAZY!!!

So what is Evan doing this week:

  • He loves watching "Jack's Big Music Show" and "Wonder Pets" on Noggin (Cartoon's)
  • He is pulling up on EVERYTHING!!!
  • Crawling EVERYWHERE!!!
  • Walking well holding on to mommy and daddy
  • Loving this fall weather because he can be outside
  • Eating table food
  • Drinking GREAT from his cup
  • Loves playing with balls
  • Still waiting on his two top teeth to make their apperance
  • Likes watching football with daddy (according to Jason)
  • Sleeping through the night again!!!! YAY!!!

Well I could go on and on, but I wont. But I do want to share with you some of the soild foods Evan has tried so far.

Redneck Wagon

When your GeeGee and Pops live in the country, this is what you get to do for fun...
Yes, you are seeing that correctly. My father-in-law hooked up a wagon to the back of his lawn mower and pulled Evan around the yard. HAHAHA! It was a sight...but Evan seemed to enjoy it!

Are You Naked?????

So the titled is an old phrase Leah use to use while we were in high school...haha. Sorry Leah, I had to use it.

Just wanted to post this cute pictures of Evan with just his diaper and hat...

Milstones

I am sooo excited to be posting this on the blog. For months Jason and I have tried to work with Evan on feeding himself. HE DID IT!!! I was so exciting, I just cheered and he laughed.

Also, he pulled up on his own today. I was working on the computer and the next thing I know he was standing up.

This month has brought many changes to our sweet boys world. He is becoming more and more active. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. As the days go by he becomes more and more of a blessing to Jason and I. I can't express how much joy he puts in our heart.
Love this face!!!

I know this isn't a great picture...he was in turn with playing in the grass. I just wanted to show off his outfit...LOVE IT!

The sweet smile that lights my world.
