Our Blessing

OK...so it has been almost three weeks since little Evan was born and I finally feel like I am getting back to normal. So I'll start from the delivery (well try).

On December 27, Evan arrived by Cesarean section due to his head being turned in the wrong position. Having a c-section was tough, but I tried not to let it get me down. However, Evan was a healthy little boy and has done great with nursing. Nursing was tough the first week but he has got it down now.

Over the past three weeks it has been amazing to watch him change and grow. He smiles and laughs while sleeping...that just makes me smile!!! He holds his head up while lying on my shoulder. But my favorite is his faces when he stretches!! I just enjoy watching him. He has started staying awake more during the day and I enjoy playing with him. I can't wait until he will start laughing and cooing when we play.

The thing that has been so amazing to me is his weight gain. We started at 7lbs 3oz.... He now weighs 8lbs 12oz! WOW! He is such a good eater.

The struggle we are having is getting him to sleep in his cradle...he does not like it because it is so open. We have tried wrapping him and we even bought a wedge...but he hates it! So currently we are letting him sleep in his car seat...he seems to enjoy it. Speaking of sleeping...he does great most nights! He sleeps about 4 or 5 hours at a time.

Well I feel like I am rambling so I'll stop now... All in all things are going great with mommy, daddy, and Evan!

HE HAS ARRIVED!!!!

Little Evan arrived December 27, 2008 at 11:13pm. He weighed 7 lbs 3 oz. 21 3/4 inches long.

First trip to the hospital...

I went to be evaluated this morning at the hospital...

I got hooked up to the fetal monitor and blood pressure monitor for about 30 minutes. But PRAISE THE LORD...all was well. My blood pressure was good and the baby had good fetal heart tones.

Evan did not like the monitor...he keep kicking and moving...

However, I was very thankful things were well!!

My next appointment is on Monday unless little man decides to come before then!

Week 38 and 1/2

Yesterday's appointment was overwhelming for me to say the least...I went expecting things to be great, but I thought wrong!!!

First, I had to see another doctor in the practice because I was told my doc was booked for this week. So, I was already anxious...When I got there I could not use the bathroom(which isn't good). I also had gain my one pound back that I lost last week.

BUT THEN...my blood pressure has been great my whole pregnancy...NOT yesterday. The nurse checked it twice and it was high...so she made me lay down on my side and my blood pressure went down. Praise the Lord!

However, Evan's heart beat sounds great and it's still so sweet getting to hear that!!! The doc measured me and he said "Oh, it looks like you're ready"...I thought that was funny!

Well before I left I was able to use the bathroom and that did not turn out to well either...

SO, I have to go to the hospital on Friday for a blood pressure check and to use the bathroom...

To sum it all up, If my blood pressure it still up and the urine test turns out bad...I will probably be staying at the hospital. I do not know for sure...but we will see.

I am going to try enjoying Christmas and take one day at a time...

I will try to keep this updated...but little Evan will be here SOON!!!!!! Yea!!!

Another Week...

I went to see the doc this morning. Nothing new to report...I have lost one pound and the baby's heart beat is still strong. I will get "checked" next week, so we will know more unless something happens before then....we'll see.

However, I am having a terrible time walking due to a pulled muscle in my left leg. It seems to be getting better but I just need some rest. Hopefully, I will get that tomorrow!!!

Things are getting into place in sweet Evan's room and I hope to finish purchasing some things I need/want before his arrival.

Speaking of the sweet baby boy....he is seems to be more active every day. Mommy and daddy really enjoy watching him rock and roll in mommy's belly. We are getting excited and anxious about his debut!!! We hope he comes soon!!!!

Doctor's appointment

Ok..so the doctor's appointment was not too much fun. Evan's heart beat is still great and I am measuring on time. However, my weight gain was awful because I am swelling. As far as dilating...only 1/2 centimeter.

It was a very violating appointment and it is not something I look forward to going back to do next week.

My next appointment is Thursday morning...maybe more then??

Only 4 weeks left until Evan's arrival

It's been FOREVER since I have updated this blog. SORRY! However, many things have happened since my last post...

The nursery is completed!!! We have had two baby showers and two more to go! My friends and family have been such a blessing during this time in our lives. We appreciate everything you all have done to help prepare for little Evan's arrival!!

As far as my pregnancy goes...things are still going pretty well...except the swollen feet and ankles! I have tried to do everything possible to help this get better, but I guess its just part of pregnancy. I am still feeling really well but I am looking forward to Evan's arrival. I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow and I should know more about when Evan might arrive. I am not really looking forward to this appointment.

I am still working and plan to work up until my due date unless I am told otherwise.

Jason and I have been preparing for Christmas and trying to get everything done before it gets too close to my due date. I am not sure I am excited about Christmas this year because it will be a very overwhelming holiday as I will be anticapating Evan's arrival. However, I am going to try and sit back and enjoy this time.

I hope to post the pregnancy progress tomorrow after my appointment....
